Shirley Patricia Jones

On January 16, 2022, peacefully at Ultimate Care Allen Bryant, Hokitika, aged 93.  Dearly loved wife of the late Arthur. Loved mother and mother-in-law of  Helen and Brian (dec) Singer (Hokitika), Jenny and Ray (Runanga), Eileen and Rodger (dec) McLeod (Christchurch), Allan and Jeannie, Ian and Christine, Isobel and Gary Fairbrother, Errol and Amy, Linda Davidson, Lesley Jones and Stephen Wallace, Monica Overton (all of Hokitika), and Cranston (dec). Cherished Grandma of her 35 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren and a loved sister, sister-in-law, aunty and friend.  Messages to 11 Brickfield Road, Blue Spur, Hokitika 7882, or can be left on Shirley’s tribute page at www.thompsonfd.co.nz.  The service will be live streamed, and the link can be found on Shirley’s tribute page.  A Service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held in the All Saints Anglican Church, Bealey Street, Hokitika, on Thursday, January 20, commencing at 1 pm, followed by burial with Arthur and Cranston in the Hokitika Cemetery.

Vaccine passes will be required to attend this service

Grandma was such a character with a wicked sense of humour, one of the last photos I was sent she was giving me the bird🖕. But at the same time she was a fine, kind and caring lady. Mum and I cried with laughter as Mum relayed Shirley’s funny stories. As I made shortbread before Christmas I thought of Shirley as I would visit her each year at this time.     Mum, Mary Stewart, and Shirley shared many happy times together; as did us kids.
