Shirley Margaret Moses (nee Chapman)

Of Palmerston North. We are sad to announce the passing Shirley, on Sunday May 28, 2023, at Greymouth Hospital, with her son Brendon at her side after a battle with COVID, age 83 years. Shirley was born on February 13, 1940, in Nelson, the eldest of 3 children to the late Noel and Mavis Chapman, Shirley was a keen hand crafter and as an active relaxer would always be found doing crochet or knitting. In her days as a younger mum would sew and knit the family’s clothes, loved trying her hand at macrame, tāniko, embroidery and loved applying her artistic hand to anything she thought she might be able to learn. Shirley used these skills in her work as a seamstress making everything from leather jackets for international export to woollen blankets. Shirley was predeceased by her father Noel Chapman (1967), mother Mavis Chapman (nee Gibbs) (1988) and her son (Anthony) Dean Moses, who died on 13/11/2022 and her ex-husband (Alfred) Waka Moses (2022) She  is survived by partner Dennis Osborne and her sons Graham Moses, Kerry Moses and Brendon Moses, step son Owen Osborne, and their partners, and her grandchildren Sam Moses, Alex Moses, Haylee-Chanel Simeon, Jake Moses, Erica Moses, Reon Moses, Ebony Waudby-Moses, Tyson Waudby-Moses, Ngāhina Moses, Kahurangi Moses, Abbi Hutchings, Krystal Rāmeka, Brooke Wright as well as her great grandchildren Izaya (Izzy) Simeon, Manaia Simeon, Lilly Simeon, Adrian Simeon, Rhyka Moses, She is also survived by her brother Roger Chapman and his wife Penny Chapman and youngest brother Mac Chapman and his wife Cyn. The funeral will be a small ceremony with close family members/friends present at Thompson Riverside Chapel, 88 Gibson Quay, Hokitika – 2pm Tuesday May 30, 2023.
