After a wonderful day, surrounded by her loving family, Mel passed away peacefully following a brief illness on October 5, 2025, aged 53. Dearly loved wife of Stephen (Briggsy), deeply loved mum and ‘mother-out-law’ of Tracey & KR Hardman, Sara & Troy Drummond, Maggie, and Stevie Briggs & Coby Butcher, treasured Nana of Kevin-John; and Jimmy, Mackley, and ‘baby on the way’, much loved daughter of the late Deano & Coral, loved sister and sister-in-law of Gary & Fiona, Rosie & Norm Pamment, Phil & Kerry, Bronwyn & Rob Pamment, Trudy & Noel Jenkins, and Gilly & Kathy, beloved daughter-in-law of Ginger & Margaret, loved sister-in-law of Louise & Bevyn Mason, and Natalie, loved niece, aunty, cousin and a friend of many. A Funeral Service to celebrate Mel’s life will be held in the William Sampson Memorial Chapel, 134 Tainui Street, Greymouth on Thursday at 2pm followed by cremation here on the Coast at the Westland Crematorium.
