Keith Wilfred McAdam

May 21, 2026

Passed peacefully at home on May 21, 2026, aged 84.
Loving husband and soul mate, blessed by (in Keith’s words) “two beautiful and super daughters, one son, two beautiful granddaughters, 3 amazing grandsons, one gorgeous great granddaughter, and Kaz’s wonderful family.” A treasured father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, and friend. My cup runneth over with love and kindness that comes in many forms. I’ve met all of them, especially this last year, you know who you are
Messages to P.O. Box 131, Hokitika, 7842, or may be left on Keith’s tribute page at www.thompsonfd.co.nz
In accordance with Keith's wishes, a private cremation has taken place.

      Dad,
Although you are gone; I know one day, we will meet again.
Thank you for never letting me sit in my comfort zone. You always encouraged me to reach for my dreams, if I said: I can’t’. You always said: ‘Try’.
When I doubted myself, you were always there, encouraging me to the finish line. If it wasn’t for you, 16 happy years of teaching would not exist. So thank you for introducing me to Shakespeare, and poetry, and to all the great authors you said I should read. It’s really your fault I’m an English teacher.
Thank you too, for the happy memories of my childhood, for all those trips to the seaside, and walks through moors and woods. You gave me a life long love of the great outdoors.
Whenever I walk along coasts and through woods and mountain valleys. I will always find a little part of you, living inside my heart, smiling at the simple beauty of the world.
So until we meet again in the next world. I will say goodbye.

We love you so much Grandad, as did my mum. She spoke about you everyday, how much she missed you and all the memories she had with you. I’ll look after her, she’s strong just like you.

Saddened to hear of Keith’s passing. A true character and a man of many a yarn and jokes. Our hearts go out to you Karen and family. Wendy knew Keith from the early Pact house days and was always happy to yak and pass on advice, he was so knowledgeable. Keith will be missed by all the dart players on the coast and throughout the south island. A member of the Hoki Club team, then stumpers, also Saturday darts in Greymouth. He used to love our trips to Harihari and couldn’t keep him quiet in the car as he always had a joke or story to tell and enjoyed the banter with other players, especially letting them know they had been cleaned up by an 82 yr old. RIP old fella. We will miss you. Evan & Wendy Calteaux and family

I enjoyed every moment of working with Keith, his jokes, stories and poetry.
He was always happy to see me over the years and we would catch up like it was yesterday.
Keith was a true friend and he will leave a big gap in those that knew him and loved him.
We would laugh when I reminded him there’s exactly twenty years difference between us Keith when he would say remember….
Sending lots of love to Karen and all his family
