Colleen (aka Mrs Robbins to me) has been in my life for over 50 years, as “Joan’s mum”. She was the matriarch of the Robbins family, and it would be fair to say I was a little scared of her in my younger days! During Joan’s palliative care time, I got to know Mrs R on a deeper level. What sticks in my mind the most is how she enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and didn’t wish for anything more than she already had. She amused me immensely telling me about the time she thought she’d won $50,000 on a scratchie, and how all weekend she was upset and panicked because she didn’t know what she would do with $50,000. Turned out she had mis-read the ticket, and she was so happy and relieved!!
Mrs R, Colleen, then Ma, is how I referred to her. RIP Ma, go now, and reunite with our lovely Joan xx

Condonlence to the whole family. Colleen was our dear friend. She was one of the first people whom I met when I move in Hokitika, she used to bring me to church since I dont have yet a car, she baked goodies for my kids and had been always there for us. I couldn’t thank her enough for all her kindness to us. She will always be in our hearts and prayers, forever we will always remember her. May she rest in peace and may the perpetual light shine upon her.
