Arthur Wallis (John) Hibbs

On July 6, 2026, peacefully at Elms Court Lifecare Christchurch, aged 87 years. Dearly loved husband of Jan. Much loved and respected father and father-in-law of Bronwyn and Cristian, John and Karen, Andrea and Matthew, Paul and Mel. Much loved Grandad John of Travis, Maddie, Paige, Zac, Lily, Darcy, Abbie, and Fin. Loved son of the late Tom and Eileen, and brother and brother-in-law of Bev and Snow, Helen and Bruce, Tom and Jo, Ron and Tony, Jean and Colin, and the late Barbara and Johnny, Pat and Brian, Glenyse and Harry. Loved brother-in-law of Barbara, Marion, Don, and the late Richard and Paul. A very much-loved uncle to his many nieces and nephews and a good friend to all. A huge thank you to the staff at Elms Court for their love, care and attention given to John and his family. Messages to the Hibbs family c/- P O Box 111-01 Sockburn Christchurch 8443. A celebration of John’s life will be held in the Academy Funeral Services Chapel, 65 Main South Road, Upper Riccarton, on Tuesday, 14 July at 10.30am. A burial service for John will be held at the Hokitika Cemetery, on Wednesday, 15 July at 1.30 p.m., followed by a get-together with family and friends. All welcome.
