To be able to stand tall and call you my grandfather has and always will be my absolute honour and privilege. Many many people have have admired you and were blessed to be able to witness your courage, your strength, your sheer knowledge, but most importantly, many were able to see your cheeky and quick whitted side that you always showed like a ray of bloody sunshine. Grandad you have touched so many people from our areas. Not just wanagnui but also South Westland. The memories of you will never ever be forgotten. From the bottom of my heart I will never ever be able to thank you enough for everything you have given me and I feel pretty bloody lucky that I got to be around you as much as I did. From teaching me life skills and how to live from the Bush to teaching me how to use that bloody floor buffer at THC!! I always looked up to you and will never forget everything you gave to me and also what we shared. Rest in peace koro. The pain is over, the battle is finished. Now it is time for you to be at peace and watch over all of us. Arohanui koro

To Hinga and all the family i only just heard of the passing of Rangi it is with great sadness that i write this message. I always remember Rangi for taking me under his wing when i arrived at Franz in 1983 we clicked when we first meet. I loved his personality humor and compassion. To me he will always be a ledgend of Franz Josef a man i will never forget.
