On September 30, 2019, peacefully at Allen Bryant Lifecare Hokitika. Loved and devoted husband of Joan. Treasured father of Stuart and Simonne (Auckland), and Dale and James (Sydney), and a loved grandfather of Charles and Isabel. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Peter and the late Dianne Thompson and Pam and Peter Coleman (Sydney). A loved uncle of all his nieces and nephews. Messages to 83 Hall Street, Hokitika 7810. Family and close friends are invited to a service for Michael, to be held at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, Seaview Terrace, Hokitika on Friday 4th October 2019 commencing at 1.30pm. Joan, Stuart, Dale and family, Deepest sympathy to you all. Mr Thompson was a great teacher. You always knew where you stood with him. Richard, Susan and I were lucky enough to play with him in the Hokitika Municipal Band. Always encouraging us along. He will be remembered fondly.
I am sad to hear of Mr Thompson’s passing. He was a major positive influence on my life, through music. I will be forever grateful for his knowledge, kindness and perseverance. My thoughts and love are with you all.
