To Michelle, Grey, and your families.
A great friend and aeoplane buff, we spent many an hour discussing avation history and things that allowed aeroplanes keep air under their wings.
A master at the model areoplane kits, and was almost unparalled in his ability to apply accuracy to detail.
Jim also applied his skills to wood working, and I was impressed with the qwerky creations fashioned from castoff wood bits. Very creative.
Always respectful, but could dig his toes in on an issue .
A trustworthy friend to many.
It is with regret that I can not be in Hokitika tomorrow for the service, but will be thinking of Jim, his family, and of his many friends thruout the day.
I spent many days at Hokitika airport with Jim when I was a young fella. He is one of the people that I credit with giving me the aviation bug.
Very sad to hear that he has passed.
Condolences to Jims family
To Grey and family. So sorry for your loss. Loved chatting to him about vehicles and aviation. A really good man.
A true gentleman, Jim was a well respected and appreciated by the aviation community during his time at Hokitika airport. A trusted source of invaluable information and assistance to many pilots trying to get to Hokitika, at all hours of the day, and night, in the west coast weather.
Jim fostered my intrest in aviation as a young boy, which has turned into a great career, and is something I will forever be grateful to him for.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend Jim’s service but would like to pass on my sincere condolences to Jim’s family.
The Air Commodore – a true and faithful friend who as has been already mentioned was instrumental in many of us being launched off into our respective aviation careers. Jim had an abounding passion for all things aviation.
It is exceptionally pleasing to know much of his aviation collection of memorabilia and models will remain in safe and caring hands in Hokitika.
Very sorry I am unable to attend Jim’s farewell.
I have found the comments above totally endearing to a man who was the truest example of how a man, should be. I met Jim through a family member in 2003 with a passion for aviation and a common bond in finding missing aircraft, we shared many an hour theorising where they might be and how the incidents might of happened..
Turns out we found a few by the looks ‘Jimbo’.
Godspeed and CAVU
