Steven Andrew Black (Blackie)

Suddenly at home, on Friday, August 30, 2024, aged 74 years. Cherished father and father-in-law of Rachel and Caid, and Ewan and Shana, long time partner and friend of Raylene, much loved grandad of Harrison, and Jessa, loved son of the late Oliver and Annie, much loved brother, brother-in-law uncle, cousin and friend. A Storyteller, ideas man, past event recollecter and always the owner of a cheeky grin. Messages to PO Box 69, Haast 7844, or can be left on Steven’s tribute page at www.thompsonfd.co.nz. Steven has been cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at a date and time to be advised.

    You were my first real love Blackie alway though of you even as we grow old . It was great to see you last time in Haast . Please have a beer with Dad and Mum they loved you as well . Dad always said if your man enough to come ask him to go out with me then you can and you did .

    Your such ah wonder dad to myself, when I first meet you in Haast ,you treat me as ur real daughter we laugh we gossip in bar,I’m always inform you when the police pass infant Big Window.Tears fall apart when I heard you pass a way .I’m still keep this lovely warm purple plunket you gave it to me ,I carry this all away from Haast to Invercargill.     I remember ya 60th well with sproully and Peter Pete, never imagined ya were 74,ya certainly didn’t look 74, thanks our mentor for everything, from fishing to house buying to tricking and not treating at Halloween, which he didn’t believe In, but next morning always lollies on the lawn, you always asked me why I live life to the fullest, and I said cos could be dead tommorrow, he come back with a empifany a couple months later and agreed, life is too short, and never questioned me again, thanks for the visits since leaving haast, will miss you terribly
